Solar panels

I have two 40 watt panels to mount on top of the dodger, one on either
side. This means one is always going to be in shadow. I want to parallel
them together and run to the controller input. Due to the diodes, the
one in shadow shouldn't drag the other down. Correct?
These are older type silicon cells.
Thanks
Gordon

Yes. If you wanted to make sure, hook each panel in turn to a 12 volt
battery via a milliammeter. Keep the panel dark and look for very
little, like 10 microamps or zero reverse current (from Battery plus to
solar panel plus.)
