Default replacing motor in pearson commander

Hello, my son (18) just purchased one of these boats, and needs to replace
the old 15 horse evinrude outboard currently on board. The motor fits in a
well, behind the cockpit...will one of the new 4 stroke motors, ie., Honda
work in this application? I would imagine it would have to be a long shaft
as well...any hints are appreciated, best, michael

any long shaft motor will work in that appication. Your son has a great boat!
My family has owned Pearson Ariel, which is the same hull as the Commander but
with a larger cabin, for that last12 years.

The case of the 4 stroke motors is quite a bit larger than 2 strokers so he
might want to measure how much room he has in the well and see if the new
motor will fit.
