New (used Spencer 35)

I'm taking posistion of a Spencer 35 in about two weeks. It is in
OUTSTANDING shape (the two surveys confirm it). Named "Whistledown."
The bullet proof hull and full keel seem to make this the boat for
blue water cruising. I loved the sea trial.

Can anybody give me their experiences, negative or postive regarding
these boats.?

Cheers and thanks in advance

I did a google on whistledown sailboat and didn't find much. I did find
that it had cruised the Gulf of Cortez.

I couldn't find anything about the individual boat, but I'm looking
more for the the general reputation of Spencer's. My largest boat so
far was a Flying Scot so a Spencer 35 (hull #16) will be a nice
upgrade. From what I can gather they are tough as hell. .. .you know,
that fella that sailed 'round the world.

But what sort of quirks do they have. I don't have any other
cruiser's do compare it with expect an O'day 25 which isn't much of a
comparison.

Hal & Margaret Roth's boat Whistler was a Spencer 35 as I recall. You
might get some insight thru checking out several of their books about
voyages in that boat. After 50,000 miles etc.
