Possibly, Coast Guard Report CG-D-20-87,

no, not possible. For the CG never said any such thing.

For those interested, a link to the CG report follows. You may or may not
decide that the original posters comments were accurate. The Fastnet race is
specifically mentioned in the report as are a number of conclusions
regarding the likely results if the capsized boats had deployed properly
designed drogues.

thank you for sorting out the little problem of what the coast guard
has said.
also Donald Jordan has in other papers clearly voiced the opinion.
But, you dont need to give the competitions web site. But since you
have it is easy to confirm if i am 20% cheaper. I also have the coast
guard report on my site

Bryan,

I have been making series drogues to U.S. Coast Guard specifications
in Melbourne, selling them mainly in U.K. and Europe. Australia is
about to sign a free trade agreement with the U.S. any day now, and I
dont have any contacts there. I dont like working with large companies
because they seem to spend most of their effort working out new and
smarter ways of screwing me. I am looking for individuals that like
messing around in boats, and have some spare time.
My drogue is the best on the market and 20% cheaper than the nearest
competator.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the only tactic that will save a boat in
large breaking wave conditions is deloying a series drogue. They
concluded that no yachts would have been lost in the 79 fastnet race
if series drogues had been deployed. They dont say that about
parachute style sea anchors, lying ahull, running, heaving to,
galerider, or anything else.
There is talk that the O.R.C. (ocean racing club) will make series
drogues compulsory equipment on ocean races, this could be in a month,
year or never. Either way, it should be on boats because it saves
lives, and is idiot proof, and if you find yourself in 50ft waves,
most of us turn into idiots. But I digress.
If you want to yarn, email me, or look at my web site

the series drogue was developed by Jordan, and his name is often associated
with the term. There is in fact no difference between a Jordan series drogue
and a series drogue.

in addition, while the CG felt the (Jordan) series drogue to be superior to all
others, nowhere in its report did it state that the (Jordan) series drogue
worked and all others failed (as in did not work).

For those interested, a link to the CG report follows. You ------ may

only if you can't read. nowhere at all does the CG say that Jordan

drogues
work and nothing else does. nowhere.

chuckle You may be shadowboxing. Unless we missed one of the messsages,
it appears that the only place the word "Jordan" was used in this thread was
in messages you authored. If, I'm wrong, my apologies

But, if you're looking for verification...yep, "nowhere at all does the CG
say that Jordan drogues work and nothing else does. nowhere".

And, there's a lot more stuff they don't say in the report ;-).

Bryan, are you saying the CG states in its report (which you say you have
published on your site) that the Jordan drogue works and all others failed to
work? If so, would you mind very much pointing the specific paragraph in the
CG that makes that statement?

no, not possible. For the CG never said any such thing.

Bryan may still be trying to find the paragraph in the CG report that says the
series drogue worked and everything else failed to work.

That free trade agreement I was talking about has been passed by your
senate and lower house. Goods manufactured in Australia can enter USA
duty free. One Aust dollar = usd0.72, we can produce goods of equal
quality and sell them cheaper than the American equiv. Talk to me.

Bryan
