Just finished watching Nova about the probable reversal of the earth's
magnetic field. Very informative but all I could think about was if it
would happen before the warranty on my new Ritchie Globemaster ran out.

Simple. Mount it upside down with a mirror underneath it so you can see the

I have a sundial I bought at Kent's last year. When I went to set
it to daylight savings time, I noticed that it was running
backwards, so I think your fears about a mere reversal of magnetic
fields is misplaced, or a government distraction from bigger issues.
Do you work for CECIS? Are you a professional agitator, bent on
distracting us from more serious issues? This is really a political
thing, isn't it? You work for some secret government propoganda
agency, don't you? Admit it! Sign the paper, old man, and we will
give you back your fingers!

Obviously, thr entire earth has been reversed in many different
ways, even our perceptions seem to have been inverted, and I for one
cannot figure out how they did it. It's a real puzzler.

Ther's another issue no one seems to want to do anything about. I
have a sink hole in my back yard, and it's very strangely getting
larger. How the hell does something that isn't there get bigger, by
becoming even less than it was? How can any hole get larger, in any
sense of the word? It's a scandal, I tell ya.

There should be an inquiry of some sort, but who could we trust to
tell us the truth?

I was considering muching about boat stuff myself, but decided not
to, as it was weighed, too much trouble. I tried it two times and
hurt my head. Perchance thrice would be a charm?

Muching is such a pane.

Wish I had that focus, somedays. I tool the tiller down to 400 grit,
epoxied and clamped and sanded a couple of slight delaminations and
put three coats of Cetol on it and it looks and feels great. Buddy
three docks over says he and his friend have taken the hull of their 8
meter down to 1200 grit (which is what? talcum on a Post-It Note?) and
aren't finished yet.

Personally, I like to sail now and again, so I am of the "well, it's
better than before" school rather than "Teflon's too freaking lumpy
for me" school.

But I enjoy crewing for the racing obsessives. I just can't BE those
guys. Besides, every year some ultra smooth racing sled goes down by
the bow because someone forgot to double clamp the thru-hull hose...we
all possess blind spots, it seems.

Obviously you need the "hole" truth and nothing but.

I'm not a sink hole expert, nor do I play one on the internet, but I
think it's accurate to say that they never get any smaller. It might
be time to think about moving the house and car. The whole house.

Then go cruising (note clever attempt at staying on topic).

The original post was On Topic (OT). It concerned a possible danger
to those who still trust compii, in the face of an apparently
imminent (in geological terms) re-reversal of the earth's magnetic
field again.

Something is definitely afoot, and we need to think of something to
do! It seems, considering the fact that my sundial has reversed
itself, and my sink hole is, well, morphing, I guess, that the
ensuing reversals may actually be of some benefit, after all my
sundial may soon work properly, and my sink hole may shrink to
nothingness.

The sundial reversal went unnoticed until this post prompted me to
re-check it again. I wonder if that means all the navigation
satellites have reversed, too, and if that means that time must have
reversed, since GPSs seem still to work. That might explain why my
sundial still runs backwards.

All concerned should carefully monitor events in their vicinity and
call the chicken little hot line if anything significant breaks. Er,
anybody actually got that number?

Be alert out there, our sailing futures may all be at stake.

to much, we must.

Does a global magnetic reversal mean that all my electric motors will
run backwards?
Im not worried about my GPS as I can always read the display via a
mirror to correct for the reverse virtual image. Maybe I could just
put the batteries in backwards?

If my electric meter runs backwards, will the power company owe me
money? After the reversal will the off switch become the on switch?

Maybe the only thing that wont change is those 'chad' voting machines
in Florida .... ya think?

Will yankees begin to speak with an unintelligable drawl?

I, for one, think we're missing the whole point. If the magnetic field
reverses, we can find a way to blame it on the government, if not
the UN, and sue.

Failing that, there's a gold mine in re-writing physic textbooks. I bet
the E and H fields of radio waves will reverse too, making our radios
inoperative...and TV won't work either...oh, wait..is that a benefit or
a problem?

No, but when you switch off the lights, it will be even darker than
usual, due to the vacuum.

The power company will never owe you money, as more dark will become
the service standard.

I find it's easier just to have a copper hatband on the Tilley,
personally. In addition, if this magnetic reversal occurs, my wife
says I am already adept at sailing "green for port". Amazing how
that's improved my club racing times.

Actually, I think not. If you consider that those things which we screw
into sockets in order to see during times when it's dark are dark suckers
(really - the more powerful ones can suck dark from further out!), when all
is reversed, we'll be able to get some sleep during the daytime by turning
them on, as they'll blow dark, rather than suck it...
