crew found.
From: "Dave J" Subject: LOWISA, early August, Minn and Ont. Date: Saturday, April 19, 2003 19:10 Looking for a crewmate to cruise the LOWISA event first week in August. The LOWISA (Lake of the Woods International Sailing Association) event is made up of from about 40 to 80 boats in recent years and consists of about half racers and half cruisers. We primarily sail the Canadian side of the large (65,000 miles of shoreline with over 14,000 islands) lake in a 6 day event that see us anchor in wilderness bays on most evenings. In my case I add an additional 4 to 6 days to the trip with a two to three day cruise from Warroad, Minnesota to the start up in Kenora, Ontario and return after the event. Wife (first and only Mate) decided that she did not want to participate this year and the event rules say no single handing. Boat is a little Aquarius 21. Slow but extremely stable. Skipper is a 50+ year old sailor, non-smoker, from far Western South Dakota. Ex-Red Cross sailing instructor. Crewmate need not be an accomplished sailor or even yet a sailor at all, but should be willing to learn. -- Dave J |
