Brunzeel okume is widely regarded as one of the best. I built a
bow/anchor pulpit out of it for my old boat and it turned out very
nicely. I'm still using scraps from the original sheet for odds and
ends.

Poor Tadpole (MiniCup #1), her transom is rotted, her rear deck is
rotted, her forward bulkhead is rotted, parts of the forward deck are
rotted. She was the first boat I built and the instructions didnt
mention epoxy (it wasnt available when the MiniCup first plans were
made). Her insides were painted but that was it and paint just wont
stand up to hot FL weather and humidity. I do not reccomend using
packing peanuts for floatation, what a mess removing the old ones. I
almost consigned her to the burn heap but found her stringers seem
good as does her bottom which I did eventually epoxy and glass. Her
sides also seem ok. YES, we can rebuilr her, make her better than
before. The $6000 MiniCup.
