Sailcloth wieght

The Outrigger canoe is coming along well. The mold stations are up
and as perfect as my eye and tools can see or measure. It's set for
27' long. So far things are going as well as can be expected. I was
looking at sailcloth and I have decided on tanbark. I like the look
and the price. I just can't figure out the weight I will need. The
design calls for 4oz. but that is for the 18' model and I have
stretched the boat longer. Should I go heavier wieght? if so is 6oz.
acceptable? the boat will have larger sails than the original design
but I don't know of any formula or anythign to figure out the wieght
of the material needed. When all is done, including gear I think I
will be about 200 lbs. Maybe a little more.

Thanks for the advice,
Bill
