what's the best type of carpet to put into a boat and what's the best type

You want to use 100% Olefin carpet. Olefin is a tradename for
polyester. This is the only kind you will want to use. Also, make
sure it is solution-dyed, which will keep it color longer and resist
sun fade. Not sure about which glue to use, though. Mine is snapped
down to the deck.

Nope. Olefin is a trade name for polypropylene, not polyester.

Suggestion ... from experience, forget the glue ... snap in is the way
to go.
