Pilgrim 44 / Commuter 44 ?

Are there other dory powerboats like these 2 ?
http://www.parker-marine.com/com44page.htm
http://www.georgebuehler.com/Pilgrim.html

Length in the 42-44 ft,beam 9-10, displacement around 10 000 lbs, preferably
plywood, strip planked, or any variation epoxy glued.

NB CMD redwing 40 is way heavier, hence more expensive. (

Thanks.

I am wondering what causes the lack of answers.

Why are these powerboats uninteresting ?

From http://www.thomasecolvin.com/passage...or_vessels.htm
under the "Passagemaking motor vessels" category:

"The ocean-going dory is another member of this family. They range in
size from 33' to 52' over the rails. The larger one is the most
popular. She has a beam of 14', a service speed of 7.4 knots for
almost 2800 miles on 468 gallons of fuel, and she is flat bottom. This
is the least expensive hull to construct for her size. The construction
time is a fraction of the time necessary to construct any of the other
hulls in this family of ocean cruising motor vessels."

So it sounds like Colvin might have something you'd like. You could
call his office for details and study plans.

The designs are interesting, certainly. The reason you don't get too
many people building them is that the less wealthy usually want to
build sailing vessels in which to do their cruising, and the wealthy
build heavy-displacement trawler types. At least, that's the way I see
it.

Good luck.
