Where to find Metric Ruler?
Jonathan says:
I haven't see the new store, but loved the ambiance of the old. Yeah... I loved that place. IUt was REALLY nice to be able to walk downtown (about 5 minutes total) and pick up anything you needed. I grew up working in an old time hardware store in NJ, and it reminded me of that. Find anything you want, including help. Me, too, except mine was in Chichester (England). Same kind of place from the sound of it. All sorts of strange drawers full of arcane (and archaic) bits and pieces which a few people still wanted. Should have bought more while I was working there. There are lots of tape measures available that show both metric and
imperial, try Home Depot. "Jonathan" wrote in message ... Hi all, I am planning to build a small Dudly Dix design, a sailing dinghy called an Argie 10, for my 12 year old daughter. This was a "carrot" in an effort to get her more interested in studying. She achieved the benchmarks, and now I have to produce :) The plans are all in metric dimensions. While all dimensions are also listed in inches, I have a feeling laying out a curve based on 473,441 and 392 centimeters is going to be easier than translating 18.62", 17.36" and 15.63" to fractions and then plotting that. So, my question is, where to I find a tape measure that is marked in metric units? Also, if anyone has built one of these and has any pointers, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jonathan |

Only a 12 footer, unlike the 25 ft ones I am accustomed to as a carpenter, but, hey, the boat is only 10 feet long, so it will do :) Seriously, I noticed a nice all-metric 8-meter long tape at Home Depot in Redmond, Washington. I was so surprised I bought it without even knowing what I would ever use it for. - Rick Tyler -- "Ignorant voracity -- a wingless vulture -- can soar only into the depths of ignominy." It used to be a French standard, now it's SI. see
