Well, I did not get any answers here to my quesiton about fishing in
California in July, guess I will have to just bring all my poles and
find the fish myself. Well before I move on to do my research and
follow other paths I just could not help but point out this link I
found in another group.

So if you all wonder where I have gone, this will give you an idea;)

California's a big state, with at least three different "zones" to the
salt water fishing (probably more; I'm not a fisherman). If you are
talking about San Diego and environs, there is plenty of sportfishing
off the coast. Marlin, yellowtail tuna, etc. Great fishing south, in
Mexican waters. If you are talking about Los Angeles and points north
to Ventura, you may find some larger sportfish, but more likely sea
bass, halibut, rock cod and some others like bonitas. There are new
restrictions on fishing during some times of the year, but I think by
July you are out of the moratorium on sport fishing around the Channel
Islands in that area. Farther north the fishing changes again, and
I'm not familiar with it.
