Gas gauge wiring

I just put a new Tempo Plastic fuel tank in my boat. When I wired up the
gauge it reads full all the time. I put a wire from the center post of the
sender to the S terminal on the gauge, a wire from the ground terminal on
the sender to the negative terminal of the battery and the a wire from the
accesory wire of the ignition to the I terminal on the gauge. Can anyone
tell me what is going wrong ?

Thanx

The resistance of your sender is probably not high enough when
the float is in the "empty"-position = Instrument and gauge
do not fit. Get sender and instrument from the same manufacturer
(e.g. VDO Oceanline)

Kind regards, Eike
