Anybody have or seen any plans for a cartop boat carrier for my fiberglass
pickup cap? Made a set from a set of large suction cups made for building
such a carrier on an older van but was concerned about weight distribution
on the fiberglass cap.Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

Take a look around to see what different tradesmen use for carrying ladders
etc. The most common that I've seen involves pieces of square aluminum tube
up the sides of the cap with cross-pieces just up from the top of the cap.
This distributes the weight a lot better than something right on the cap. A
quick search on the internet for truck cap ladder rack came up with lots of
examples.

I hope that helps.

If you look at what the trades use be sure and check weight limits. I
have an al. cap that I ordered with a rack. The rack looks like it
would be rated at the low end but is actually rated the highest. I
added 2 pcs of 2" emt running fore and aft for the variety of water
craft I carry.
