the price goes down with quantity. sometimes you can find someone with a
big project who will sell you some. London, Ontario, bring landlocked may
not be a popular location for building large boats. here in Ottawa the places
to ask are around the sailing clubs and marinas.

I asked at a racing shell factory in Lucan once and was given the
bum's rush out of there. I don't mind paying retail and I'll buy west
if I have to .I just wondered if anyone knew of an alternative brand.

I do not know what quantity you need?
To my knowledge the only Canadian companies that formulate epoxy are Cold
Cure and East System. Their prices are about the same as West Epoxy.
Only 2 or 3 chemical companies make basic epoxy.
West System is an Icon in formulating already made epoxy purchased from
Chemical Companies. East System is a good equivalent. One of the less
expensive (US) one is www.raka.com You will have to paid for the currency
exchange and transport. When epoxy is purchased in the US the most
economical way is to have it shipped at US frontier. Here we are at one
hour drive from the US border and we use a US delivery point where we pick
it up. The saving is worth it when you buy more than one gallon. If you
need less than one gallons you may want to look at group purchase with a
local association. If you only need a few drops Home Hardware and Canadian
tires have small tubes for sales. LeeValley also carry West Epoxy in 32
once can. They have a store in London ON. 2100 Oxford St. 519 - 659-7981

Just for information:
Boaters World has all WEST System epoxy products on sale at 30% off. A
gallon of 105 resin is 49.95, hardener is running $22.00 per quart.
Microfibers are $6.99. I bought enough for then next two boats.
