I am helping a class of 7th graders build Wacky Lassies
(http://www.alaska.net/~fritzf/Boats/...cky_Lassie.htm) and would like to help them with deciding how to paint them. I would like to install some 3d rendering software on their class computer along with the lines for the boat so they can wrap designs onto the boats and see them from different angles. Any suggestions for software? (Cheap or free would be very helpful, easy to input lines next most helpful.) Patrick |

(Design CAD 2000) The technique is called "texture mapping" when rendering the drawing. http://www.home.earthlink.net/~tp-1/hangar02.jpg One of my web places. there's a bunch of other junk there... I have a demo of the rcatest.jpc wrapped on a rotating sphere. It's 7meg or so, so it's not up now. But it's kinda cool - for a few seconds... This is a rather involved process, at least the way I do it. Drawing the wireframe, anyway. I've had some strange results trying to draw hulls... Anyway, draw the drawing, texture surfaces with the picture as desired, and render to make the image. And if the "subject" "moves", YOU SIMPLY reposition and re-do - for each frame. Industrial Light an Magic is pretty good at it. Pixar is fabulous! I think I'm at the Gumby stage right now. Richard |

I know the free demo worked with windows 98. When I tried the free demo version I couldn't get it to print. Over all the program was easy to learn and offered different views and is a small program that doesn't use a lot of resources to get it to work. Great for flat panel design that fits stich and glue projects. http://www.plyboats.com/ If this is not what you want, go to this site and take a look. http://home.clara.net/gmatkin/softwr.htm |
