Default Ladders...

I am beginning to think about 'ladders' for Viking Star, and wanted to
see if anyone had some ideas...

Viking Star is a 45' Ed Monk 'Tri-Cabin' type trawler. Uses for the
'Ladder' would by (in order of importance)

1) Boarding from sea. This would be most likely from a Man Over Boat
type situation. (My boat, or someone else's).

2) Stern to docking

3) Side tie (This is not really a concern. If the device could
service some purpose here, OK, but only if by chance or if any mods
have no counter effect on priorities 1 and 2..)

My primary concern is boarding from the water. I know rope ladders
are problematic, especially if someone is in a weakened condition.
Device should be easily deployed, somewhat protected (e.g., if side
mounted, concern about side ties and/or locks). Should the point of
access be from the stern, or mid-ship? (thinking about ruff weather
here and pitching / rolling motion of boat).

Stern Access being the 2nd priority. If one device could also serve
that purpose, great, but if it has large neg's with regard to priority
1, then two separate devices would be appropriate. I am not against a
'Gang Plank' hoisted into place by the Dingy Derrick.

Opinions?
Can one device serve all purposes?
MidShip or stern?
Pictures?
Sources?

Thank you all!
