Water exhaust

I just recently obtained an old Evinrude 6 HP Fisherman outboard. Anyone
know where the cooling water is supposed to exit from this machine?

Thanks,
BS

It exits in the exhaust. While it's running there should be a heavy spray
coming out of the exhaust port (at the rear about 6 inches above the
waterline).

Have you run it?
There should be a indicator or pee tube under and at the back (right side I
think) of the power head pan that will emit a stream of water IF the cooling
system is working. If it doesn't pee, it may be clogged with salt.
I'd replace the impeller unless it's been done recently. Impellers have a
way of dry rotting and breaking up or just keeping the shape it's been in
over long periods of not being used. Cheap insurance and should be done
periodically.
