roll on bed liner on fiberglass
 

Have any of you used roll on bed liner to finish the floor of a fiberglass
boat. I'm looking for an easy to clean durable surface for the inside of my
small fiberglass fishing boat. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Haven't done it myself, but there are guys out here on Long Island
that have ... check
with a local Rhino dealer (Rhino Coating or something like that) ...
according to one \guy I spoke with (a bayman) ...he said it worked
great ...

The big issue may be how likely are you to get water _under_ the coating
- small holes, or a bit of delamination at the edge or around a thwart,
or a spot where you put a cooler down hard every time you use the
boat... Once water gets under the coating, it may be real hard to dry it
out and that can lead to serious rot problems of one kind or another
(depending on boat material).

A lot of drift boat builders/owners are using the spray on urethane
liners to a high degree of sucess. Linex and rhino seem to be the
facorites. I used a roll on product, herculiner, for the plywood bed
of a trailer and am fairly plesased with the results. The spray on
professional stuff can be applied pretty thick, is very tough, and so
it is used on driftboats for rock protection.

I wonder if this stuff could be used as coating on fabric covered boats
such as kayaks, and umiaks. I'm guseeing in would stick to cotton canvas
pretty well and be easily repairable with a touch up brush. I wonder
what the tensil strenght would be or puncture resistence vs. weight.
