Chris-craft bottom restoration and dry docking after restoration
I have a 1957 Chriscraft that the bottom has been inspected and
appropriate rot has been taken care of...I was wondering what would be the most appropriate approach to waterproofing this boat - which BTW will be drydocked for half the year in an enclosed area. Regards, Anthony |
Chris-craft bottom restoration and dry docking after restoration
Is this a plywood hull or planked hull.. They were building both during that
period. I had a '58 30' which was ply but was glassed to just above the waterline.. I owned in in the mid '80 and the glass and bottom were in excellent shape. That would be the way to go if it is plywood.. However if it is planked, I strongly advise against glassing a planked hull, unless it is strip planked. A planked hull should be maintained in the tradional manor of their period. good bottom paint and proper support when on-the-hard. Attend to the seams as required.. -- My opinion and experience.
