Rebuilding a Snipe

I'm just beginning to rebuild an old wooden Snipe believed to have been
built in the 30's. I need to replace small portions of the keel and want to
know what kind of wood to use.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mahogany would be a good choice. You want a wood that glues well and
has some natural resistance to rot organisms.
