how2 duplicate windvane VANE ?

I have a Hydrovane and want to duplicate the vane with something
stronger than the ageing light weight original wooden one.

Vanes on the new windvanes are metal tubing w/lashed on fabric.

Suggestions ?

Appreciatively,

Courtney

Many use one cut from aluminum sheeting, Yves Gillenas for one did so on
the 'Jean du Sud'...he is the inventer/designer of the Cape Horn self-
steerer. Also I would check into thin starboard(a high density poly-
ethylene), say 1/8"-1/4" thick. Comes in colors and is UV resistant.

Would sheet aluminum do? I have some paddle blades made out of a discarded
aluminum snow shovel. A local scrap yard sells old aluminum traffic signs
for $5 each.
