Side Deck width
 
Does anyone have any opinions on the minimum width of the side decks on
a 35 foot yacht, particularly near the shrouds?

Yes.

The width of the side deck should equal 1/2 the beam of the boat ;)

Note: not everybody likes flush decks as much as I do, but it's fact,
not opinion, that they are stronger and make a better working area.
