Fitting an anode to my aluminum boat

I was reading in my boat owners manual and it mentioned that I should
install a transom mounted anode if I operate in salt water. I only
operate in salt water. What type/size of anode do you think I need?

Zinc anodes are consumed, in preference to other exposed metalwork
in the sea water.
If you choose a small one, you will need to replace it sooner.

How big a boat do you have? Do you keep it on a trailer or does it live in
salt water?

I have a 16 foot with a Merc 40. It is trailered except for weekends
I leave it in the salt.
