I guess that the question is what kind of canoe did you build? A
traditional canoe is covered with canvas to keep the water out.

Fiberglass, whether epoxy or polyester do not have a great deal of
ultra-violet resistance and should be covered with something giving
ultra-violet protection if the boat is kept for long periods out of
doors.

Cheers,

Bruce

Nope. Birch bark. the Eskimos didn't build canoes :-)

But the canvas ones were built for a couple of hundred years.

Bruce

Yeah, you got a point there... Maybe I should start building boats
again, that would spark things up here...

On a sad note, I never did get to meet Payson.. Don't know if building
would ever be the same.

Nope, to get seal skin, first you need to catch a seal; to get canvas
the same except you catch a candidate.

If you have built the canoe out of boards then you don't need
fiberglass, filler, canvas or seal skin. Just nails and oakum.

Bruce

is won't if affect in the float ?

The ability of a board to float depends on the specific gravity of the
floatation liquid, the density of the board and the weight of the load
(passenger).

Bruce

I will use the boat in a sea and you know the sea is salt and when the water is salt that mean the flotation is bigger than a normal water like lake

because it has a Greater density
