cheap yard near Seattle
 

Hi group,

I'm buying a boat in Seattle. I need to put it on the hard until
spring in order to do some renovations. Since the local yard here (at
Shilshole) is prohibitively expensive ($630/month to have the boat on
the hard), I'm looking to get the boat trucked to another yard near
here. Then, when I finish the renovations, I'll get it put back into
the water and sail away.

Criteria for the yard:
-Lift capable of putting my boat directly back into the water, without
trucking it. The boat is 42 ft and approx 20 000 lbs.
-Near as possible to Seattle. Can be in Canada.
-Electrical power
-Available showers and washrooms would be great

If anyone has a recommendation for a transport company, I would
appreciate it as well!

Max, why don't you come up here to Port Townsend? Check 'em on the web -
http://www.portofpt.com/index.htm - or call them for prices. 50% off of
haulout feels until the end of the year, and there's even an incentive lay
day program for stays of more than thirty days. Travelifts of various sizes,
up to 300T. You won't find a nicer boatyard, and the place has all the
marine services you could possibly want, including our very own local
micro-brewery right in the boatyard area
(http://www.porttownsendbrewing.com) . Electrical, showers, washroom, stay
on the boat if you want, supermarket and hardware store right across the
road, walking distance to the old Victorian seaport downtown. Do your own
work or hire local skilled shipwrights. Edensaw (http://www.edensaw.com/),
right outside of town, is a premier source of boatbuilding woods.

I would stay away from Pt Hudson but the main yard is fine.
