Sailing in the Olympics
Well it seems that Britiannia still rules the waves.
See http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olym...ng/default.stm for the full olympics medal table. Great Britain heads up the table followed closely by Australia and the USA. I'd like to publicly congratulate both Australia and the USA for such a magnificent performance. It is really nice to see the top three positions are by Britain and her ex-colonies. It's a real pity that Australians cannot feel the pride in Britain's performance that the British feel about Australia's performance. See the following.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7571901.stm (I'm not sure if this page can be viewed from abroad) Regards Donal -- |

BTW maybe the IOC will now realise that the 49er is the unreliable unstable POS that I've always said, and drop it. So you are pleased to see that GB has got another Gold in sailing? BTW maybe the IOC will now realise that the 49er is the unreliable unstable POS that I've always said, and drop it. I'm not really familiar with the boat. I realise that the Danes lost their mast, but I don't know anything about the circumstances. Donal -- |

(bows humbly) It is really nice to see the top three positions are by Britain and her ex-colonies. Yeah although Spain did pretty well, her former colonies didn't. ;) It's a real pity that Australians cannot feel the pride in Britain's performance that the British feel about Australia's performance. Well, until a better skiff one-design comes along that becomes more popular, the 49er is "it" It's an exciting boat to watch, at least... more so than the Tornados IMHO. Interesting controversy with the Code 0 sails, I'd have thought they'd be the nuts for light air. Am thinking about getting one for my boat, but after seeing the poor results, maybe not. I've been doing *a lot* of sailing and some travelling with the same two people (Alaska recently). Nobody believes me that the weather was so great when we were in your area. I have to show them pictures. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
