Default A Real Race

I have no doubt he
can sail circles around you.

I have serious doubts that any of you sail enough for that to mean
anything. 5 years ago I drew on the vast experience of friends who do
regular crossings and race one design. I bet you heard or even know a
few of them, Bart. I still learn from them, but they would certainly
tell you that I can trim a boat nicely handle the helm. I'd love to
see Sloco sail circles around me since no one else can. In a race
around the buoys he'd probably win since I don't race and could care
less.
So your point means little and I truly think Sloco knows **** about
boats. Like Doug, he walks around thinking he's a vast store house of
sailing knowledge. But like most sailors, he has opinions about stuff
he doesn't know much about. I know people who have designed sails,
built boats they crossed an ocean with and make a real life of
sailing. The fellow who sold me my 35s5 has sailed around the world,
sailed Turner's boat during the Fastnet disaster and is now building a
boat. I'll sail with him next month. It's funny how guys like that
don't have time to post here. He's read these forums and found them
funny as hell.
With a couple of exceptions (Such as Joe who's had professional time
at sea and owns a serious passage maker) you're all weekend warriors
and not too good at that. Bart, get real. You've been working on that
boat...a lovely Ericson I think, for how long? We had a guy come into
the yard last season and he bought a pretty far gone Valliant 40. The
boat needed everything, including blister work and keel damage repair.
He refit that boat in half a season and sailed it home to Ireland.
You've been fixing that thing for YEARS.
Sloco is probably a good PHRF sailor. He's obviously impressed with
himself about it. But he's also a trailer trash asswipe and I like
pointing it out as often as possible!
