Comments from a friend of mine.

I would guess the boat slipped out of the rig. The front
strap seems to be pretty far back. You could convince
yourself that the screws have been torn off from the final
picture, which would have happened if it slide out of the rig.
Also there is an "oil slick" around the boat in the final
picture, or poor editing?

The info on scopes says the strap broke. I can't imagine what the guy in the
back of the boat is thinking. He doesn't look happy. Fortunately, he wasn't
hurt.

About the best thing you can do with a Carver. POS boats..I delivered
a 55 fter for a Lawyer several years ago. I had it hauled and where
the straps on the travel lift were the gel-coat and glass was full of
spiderweb type cracks. A 4 year old could push on the sides and make
it flex. All fluff and crap.

I think he got his wish... perhaps a bit faster than he was expecting. I
asked a lift operator if he'd ever dropped a boat, and he said not that I'd
admit to. :-)

What was he doing on the boat? I don't think
it would be allowed in this country to have someone
on board a boat while it was being hoisted.

Allowed or not... stupid is as stupid does. $10 he doesn't do that again.
