I may be wrong but to me it looked as if they got some good way going and ripped off the keel with the towboat when the tow line parted. Joe Why didn't they lighten the boat up? What were all those people doing loading up the boat with more weight on deck? Stupid fools! There must have been a dozen of them. Probably at least a ton of excess weight on the boat--right there. That would drop the waterline more than an inch. If they offloaded everything on the boat, and waited for a spring tide, they might have been able to save it. |
