Marine boards..

Could be. He was both an asshole and a Marine Cannon-Cocker.

Here is a typical JAX response to a boat ad I had place. He is an
ignorant asshole as we know, but is more retarded than ignorant...or
is it the other way around? Anyway...what a jerkoff...or is that
JAXoff?

A 1980's Nor'Sea 27 fetches about $18,000. A friend sold his fine
Southern Cross 31 for $16,000. A Marieholm 31 went for $7,000 before
I had a chance to get there. A Dana 24 in wood went unclaimed for
$5000. A Seafarer 31 with recent diesel went for $5,100. A Cape Dory
27 with good diesel is languishing at $6,500. A friend just picked up
a Eastward Ho in excellent condition but without engine for free, get
it out of here. That friend, with 35 years experience as a rebuilder
of boats, says in today's market a sailboat over 20 years old is worth
the price of the used diesel in it. If it has no diesel, it's market
value is free. I know of a fine, fine Seafarer 31 that went begging
at $4,000 because it had an outboard (which the boat was designed
for). I saw a Vertue 25 (probably the most sought after boat on the
planet) get junked out because its storm-related repair costs were
greater than its $8,000 named insurance value. I am familiar with the
Voyager 26/Vancouver 27 heritage. I am searching for a particular
kind of boat, a boat that runs counter to the boating public's trend
of the last 18 or 20 years of buying wide/long/shallow/spacious/
condo's. The boat I am looking for is an orphan today. Under 30 feet,
even under 27 feet, narrow, with small engine (under 15 horsepower),
without refrigeration, without air conditioning, without 600 amps of
batteries, without plasma TV, without SAT phone. I bumped into a guy
in a boat yard who had more $45,000 into a Bristol 27. He was trying
to get $19,000 for it. I nodded my head and we talked about other
things. Nice guy. I didn't tell him about the price of the used
engines.
