drifter
I got my drifter last week... Luff=40'7", foot=21'9", LP=20'7",
leech=38'10"... haven't had an opportunity to give it a try. The winds have been very strong lately.. typically over 25 kts. I'm hoping to give it a shot on a downwind leg wing-on-wing with my furler in the next couple of weeks. All the hardware is ready to do, so there's nothing left to do except raise the sail and see how it does. We sailed to a fireworks display the other night put on by one of the local radio stations.... they call it Ka-Boom. It was very crowded and of course a large tanker came in during the show. They repeatedly sounded the danger signal while transiting the area. I am amazed no one got run over, since everyone was watching the fireworks and not likely keeping much of a watch. I bet the tanker crew enjoyed the show, but I'm also betting the captain and pilot didn't. Typically, the wind mellows in the evening, but it was pretty steady over 20 kts until after 11 pm. -- Capt.
