You don't say? How many Higgens boats have you manned the helm of
BB?
LCM's? LCMVP? Maybe a PT type?
My first boat was a Higgens LCM, at ABC school on Coronado
Island.
She still had blood stains in her bildge.

Joe

Although the Higgins company built other boats. The LCVP was the
one
called "Higgins boat".

Coming from a weekend warrior that reply was expected . Do you get
all
your knowledge from Wikapedia?

The LCVP is a class of Higgins Boats. As are the LCM's LCPL's, and
LCMVP's. All are known as Higgins boats. If you open the engine box
on
one, you will see a mfg's tag that calls the boat a "Higgins
Industry"
then model, then number.

The PT's were called Higgins too, as opposed to SwiftShips, Elco's,
Huckins, ect... All boats buildt at Higgin's Industries are Higgens
boat.

What you and the idiot who entered the info on Wikapedia claim.. is
a
dumb as saying the only C&C called a C&C is the 28 ftr.

Joe

Peep, peep, peep, peep. . . What's that sound? Oh! I recognize it now

Joe, isn't it time to get those French fries out of the deep fat
fryer?
Chop chop!

Your remarkable & snappy comebacks are not even worth reading.
Put a big long stupid **** signature on your lame gab, so I can ignore
that too.

Pathetic....plonk

Joe

Poor Joe. He just can't stand it I found out where he works. Stopped
into the Mickey D's and there he was slaving over the deep fryer.
Bwahahahhahahahahahaha! Working for minimum wage like that is it any
wonder Joe lives in a rusty old POS on an inland swamp? Talk about
pathetic . . .

Actually, I didn't get my information from wikipedia, Joe. There was a
special on the Higgins boat on the Discovery Channel a few days ago.
The only boat that was nicknamed a "Higgins boat" was the LCVP.

I don't think so.

But I would say that to dumb jarheads, and lubbers, and TV sailors the
most common model of a higgins boat they have seen is the LCVP. That
was indeed his bread and butter boat. But no real mariner would limit
Higgins accomplishments to his ugliest boat.

Joe

Nobody said they did, Joe. He gets full credit for building other fine
boats. The "Higgins Boat" however refers only to one specific design,
not everything he made. You weren't even born yet.

BB, see the helo picture I posted? See the Ketch next to mine?

The owner of that Ketch and his friend restored Ol Frankie.
These guys are experts and historians of Higgins boats, some seeing
action in the Phillipines on Higgins PT boats.

Then some inland cock suckers put her in a barn.
http://hnsa.org/ships/pt309.htm

So, I've been on a Higgins PT Boat here in Clearlake. And I hear
Higgins sea stories all the time.

When first assigned to a ship in the Navy, in boats division, my first
boat was a rotting plywood & Oak Higgins LCM.

http://www.usssamuelgompers.org/Phot...en/Gompers.jpg
See it? It's abeam of the forward 300 ton crane, just aft the 100 ton
traveler and motor whale boat, in front of the 42ft liberty, in front
of the 72ft LCMVP. Thats before we got the new LMCVP's with the AC
wheelhouses. We had another LCVP aft , and another LCM, LCVP, LCMVP,
Liberty, and diver's boat, Captains Gig, and Admiral's barge on the
Stbd side. I went to Amphibious Coxswain School and all they had were
Higgens boats. I ran various Higgins, Elco's ect for 4 years.

But you watched a TV show, so now your an expert on Higgins slang.

That Harvard pompass ass side of you shines bright BB.

Joe,

I have an honorable discharge from the USMC also. Boot camp at MCRD in
the 60's. - Not too many of us around.

Regarding your pictures, I'm curious about the one showing RedCloud
approaching the cameraman (or woman) 110 miles offshore. Who was taking
the picture, and where was she/he at the time?
