The Empire Crumbles: More American Buffoonery
Nigel,
I'll play with your troll for a bit. 1st; I'd like to remind you that Colonialism is pretty much a thing of the past. The English helped it failure probably more than any other country 2nd: The USA does not have Colonies. We don't want them. It is our public opinion that people should have the right to govern themselves, in freedom. Nigel, I think you need to come into this Century and that a look around. Colonies are just about gone http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ILLDRINKTOTHAT |

Colonies are just about gone Hey Thom! tell that to the UN. Last time I went on the tour of the UN building in NY they proudly showed me the damn great hall in which their anti-colonial committee had its meetings. This was a few years ago now so they have lost Hong Kong but of course Gibraltar was on their list. But what really made me laugh was that Pitcairn was on the list! Pitcairn!! Less than 50 people living there and making a precarious living from their postage stamps and totally dependent on occasional visits from a supply ship from New Zealand! Did anyone ask them if they wanted independence? Guess who is paying for all this nonsense? |

Gibraltar is economically self-sufficient, self-governing and has a higher average income and standard of living than the UK. We are also more democratic than the countries that some of the members of the UN committee of decolonisation represent. We also issue postage stamps :) -- Jim Watt www.gibnet.com |
