Is in Kemah, where the Boardwalk Beast use to moor. A biofuel wave
piercing around the world racer.

It's one far out radical wild looking boat, someone's throwing

Biofuel works well and has low emissions but suffers from the disadvantage
that if everybody went for it the entire landscape would disappear under
ugly quick-growing crops to feed the factories. A projected biofuel power
station in Uk has been abandoned for this reason recently.
And expensive and ugly wind farms in Uk have failed consistently to meet
their projected load factors due to lack of wind.
But all this makes governments look as if they are doing something to combat
global warming and the contractors who build them go away happy with public
money in subsidies.
The trouble is that 'nuclear power' is hard to sell to the public.

Well, the gas I'm using includes 10% ethenol, so I might qualify. Looks
like Saturday may be a nice sailing day. - 78 degrees, 5 - 15 knot winds.

For Jim and his Mac, quite a bit! :-)

On a light, responsive boat like the Mac 26M, we don't have to wait
until we get 25+ knot winds to have an enjoyable cruise, JG. It's sort
of analogous to the difference between driving a lightweight sports car
like a Porsche or Ferrari, (equivalent to my boat) or a heavy vehicle
such as a Suburban or Town Car (equivalent to heavy conventional boats
that take 1/4 mile to get up to speed). - Of course, it's largely a
matter of personal tastes. Like, some people enjoy driving Ferraris and
Porsches, whereas others prefer driving a Suburban.

You sure do spend a lot of energy trying to defend your boat.

It is NOT comparable to a Porshe or Ferrari. It is comparable to a Ford
Escort, except that it's twice the price.

But, good for you. You've got a nice big engine that will hopefully get you
out of those terrible 15 kts wind conditions and back on dry land.

JG,

Looking over some of the previous discussions, I'm concluding that I was
wrong. - You don't seem to spend a lot of time bashing the Macs, and
when you do, your comments are quite rational. So, I'll have to
apologize for my intemperate remarks. (I get a lot of flack from several
contributors on this ng, and I think I confused you with someone else.)

Incidentally, my note comparing the Macs with Ferraris was a joke, of
course. I thought most folks would realize that.

Apology accepted. I didn't get the joke, however, since the Macs do have a
big engine and go fast under power. :-)

Jim, to be honest (for a change), despite all my recent sarcasm about
the Mac,
I really had some great times sailing my own Mac, and I sometimes regret
getting
rid of it. - Particularly when my Seidleman bottoms out and gets stuck
in the mud
while I'm a little distracted (e.g., difficulties pulling the tab on the
last
of a six pack), or when I can't even take it out at low tide, etc.

Also, I wanted to tell you that you were absolutely correct in your
responses
to my note quoting six "authorities" criticising the Mac.
Most of them hadn't even sailed a Mac, much less one of the current 26M
models.
- And rather than admitting it (with the resuting loss of face with my
buddies on the ng),
I first tried to ignore you, and then, I simply lied about it.
The bottom line is that you called me on it, and I didn't have a
face-saving response, so I simply lied to the entire newsgroup. I have
no excuse, but it relates to some personal problems I have suffered from
for some time.
