"Scout" wrote in message . .. That is so sad. We played Dodge Ball, Kick Ball, Tag, Touch Football, general ''kid stuff'. Many kids would go home with scars, skinned knees, fat lips, black eyes, etc., no lawsuits back then. Scotty We played buck-buck using a telephone pole as the anchor; a great way to keep the neck and spine aligned, with what, I don't know. We wrestled, boxed, and kicked each other in the ass for fun. We didn't have any playground equipment at all - lack of cash, Catholic school. No gym until high school, no lockers, no showers, just run around outside with a tie on, then come back in all sweaty and watch the girls fan their thighs with their uniform skirts. I wouldn't trade the memories for anything! Played buck-buck and 'capture the flag' in Scouts. Night time capture the flag was the best! Scotty |

When I was a kid living in Chicago, the family rented a cabana club at a
local hotel so the kids would have some place to go during the summer months. One day while playing (mumblie peg - anyone play that? You take a knife, throw it up in the air in various ways, then have it stick in some wood.. anyway), while playing we hear some terrible screaming coming from the back of the hotel. The pool we were near was outside. We ran to the back just in time to see a guy come smashing down from 6 story window onto the pavement in the back of the hotel. He was definitely dead.. bounced a good 3 feet. The police were called, the press showed up, and eventually the policeman told us kids to beat it because they were going to turn him over. Of course, we stuck around. So, that afternoon when I went home, I told mom. She said the same thing... Why are you making these things up? She got a big surprise in the morning when the paper had it on the front page. :-) -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "katy" wrote in message ... Scout wrote: "Seahag" wrote in message ... I got a spiral fracture of the tibia in grade 3, in the sand pit. Course it took two other kids swinging me by the feet and hands to see how far they could toss me. ;-o Guess my mom should have sued and I'd be rich(er) now. (gr) Kewl! I went thru a 'fear 'o ants' period. Fell out of a eucalyptus tree, fortunately onto the recently buried chinchillas...my mother woulda killed me so I never told... Seahag I've only recently begun telling my mother what she didn't know about me in the 60's :o) As far as the 70's are concerned, I'm not even going there with her - she is my mom afterall! Scout We tried to do that with my Mom and all she would say is "Why are yu making these things up?" Denial... |

Scout - sure to burn on the lava lakes, for the blasphemy thing, and for havin' a good long look at Cathy R----'s panties in 6th grade while she was fanning her sweaty thighs! I'll burn for sure!! I went to Catholic school too and we wore wool uniforms but thigh fanning???If we had done that the Polish nuns would have had us out in the hall in 2 seconds...I remember once when my brother and his best friend, John, were in 5th grade and they wadded up paper toweling, to it sopping wet and wadded it up into giant spit wad type balls and lobbed them onto the ceiling of the boys bathroom...the next kids that came in got a wet surprise when the suction let lose...Sr. Timone marched right in there when she heard the commotion and dragged their sorry butts to the pastor.... |
