In fact, Martin....

Sloco is so dumb about sails and boats...he might have even looked at
the popular 36.7's rig which also has a hoist that looks a bit
short...as the headboard or top batten would interfere with the
backstay, especially if a bit more roach is added.

Sloco would do better here if he wouldn't jump to conclusions. Look at
this pic and note the top batten's proximity to the backstay. Doyle had
a look at these pics and they said exactly right.

Like I said...sloco sure knows boats. Then again....my good friend
who's sailed for many years also questioned the hoist of my old 35s5's
main because it looks about 5-6 inches short. They all look that way.

And take a look at this 35s5 racing....

Same hoist, but my sail clearly has bit of added roach...

Ahh well. Point is that Sloco GOT BUSTED BIGTIME!!!! He's so jealous
it's killing him. He hasn't posted in weeks. But my tri-radial Kevlar
main and Pentax-Mylar genoa has him foaming!
I think what really upsets Sloco is that I don't race my boat. She's
pretty fast and now she has fast sails. He doesn't approve of how I
enjoy my boat and wishes he had something as nice. Poor fella.

Unfortunately I can't see the band on the mast so I have no idea it's
short or not, tho' it looks about right to me.

In that pic the headboard looks to be nearly a foot short of the band, I
suspect that you are right about the roach being larger than the
original spec and this is the cause.

Next time you have your mast down, remove the band and put a new one on
8" lower and then everyone will be happy! ;-)

I see the problem now, Benateau got the masts mixed up at the factory
and put the wrong ones on the 35s5s! ;-o

LOL. I don't think Sloco will ever be happy. He can't/won't see the
added roach and is foaming at the mouth. The funny thing is, while he's
totally wrong, he also knows I don't race so the sail is for fun and
cruising. So even without the added roach I wouldn't have cared. I just
got a properly cut Kevlar AKS 18 Contender Main and a Pentax Mylar
genoa, all in like-new shape WITH a set of lazy jacks for 1200 bucks
and a trade in. It's driving Sloco out of his mind....but it's fun to
watch him dance!
