We had similar happenings when we were using the radio
fence in Chopper.
The deer get used to the fact that the dog will or can
only go so fae,
and since most communities now have strict orinances about
loose dogs,
deer are losing their inate fear of them.

If I open the back door and there's deer there, they usually
just stand and stare, till the dog comes running, then they
beat feet.

Running is the clue...Choppie just stands and stares at them...they're
not birds...he will point at the wild turkeys....
