Yes, but as far as boat covers go, this is first class!

Thanks Rob,
and it begins! I'm realizing that I need to carve out a

protected place in
my very wooded yard to winter the boat. I'm spending this

weekend cutting
down 6 trees and a contractor is coming in to cut and

stone a 200 ft lane;
at the end of that lane I'll put this garage tent

http://www.coverquest.com/covers/ins...es/coverit2.ph
p I should
be able to squeeze in my camper, utility trailer, and even

my John Deere
tractor. I know the boat is supposed to be about fun, but

the urge to
protect an investment is primal. I probably should've done

all this before
buying the boat, but I thought I'd still be looking at

this point.

Glad it worked out. That's one long way to go to get a

boat.

Frank

You're right Frank!
The Gulf is a beautiful place though, and I'm glad I had

the chance to see
it.

Yep. Too bad you didn't have time to stay and sail the

Islands down
there. My timing is off, will be down there sometime in

Oct., would
have liked to have sailed with you.

And, my truck needed a new challenge though. I got about

9 mpg's pulling the
boat at a steady 60 mph.

Not too bad considering the load and engine size. In

August, I towed
my brother in laws boat from Biloxi to Mexico beach,

partly as a favor
to him, and partly as a test to see what my Dakota is good

for. I
only got 12.2MPG with a 3.9L auto. Also told me that my

Dakota is
maybe marginal for my short list of boats. His boat about

800 lbs.
lighter than I'm thinking and, although well within the

rated towing
capacity, the truck struggled a bit, particularly on

hills.

Don't forget about the other 100s of odd pounds
you'll add with stores.

Scotty

It is conservatively in the total. Battery, Anchor(s), motor, gas
tank, etc. electronics, and assorted other items. With it all, I
would be about 800 lbs. under the truck's rated tow capacity, but
right on the Gross Combined (assuming two passengers). A little too
close, possibly.

Worse case I move forward, truck turns out to be marginal, and I
replace the truck. Not a big deal.

But a proper boat cover just the same.

I, however, can't do that hampered as I am by restrictive covenants.
Looks like the ole boat may have to fend for itself out in the
elements as I cannot afford to build it lodging "with the same
materials, design elements and general construction as the primary
residence"

We keep the tractor (which mows 2 acres of lawn and scrapes snow off a
very long inclined driveway), the Butterfly, the hoes, shovels,
rakes, gardening equipment, etc. and various and sundry other things in
the barn. Also, the wheelbarrow. We also store Mr Sails "toy" car in
there in the winter plus one of the kids snowmobiles. So it's not just
about animals....
