Scotty,
I wouldn't say I was getting trashed in the other

newsgroup, but only a few
gave me any benefit of the doubt. A few thought I was "all

wet" for
expecting to hand over cash from my home equity loan to

pay off someone
else's loan who didn't want to get a home equity loan to

pay off his own
loan. Others thought I must be sinister and was up to no

good - showing up
with cash like that! Imagine advising the seller to "use

caution here" -
Christ almighty - I have f***ing cash and I wanted a

title!! Anyway, I
didn't want to jump into the fray over there, and I have

to say it was nice
of Charlie, whoever he really is, to speak up in my

defense. I may not care
at the moment what some folks there think of me, but if I

buy the Seaward, I
wouldn't mind posting and hanging there from time to time.

Since they seem
to know Charlie, they at least listened to him and he gave

my version of the
incident. I appreciate that even if the Seaward group

didn't want to hear
what he had to say. I guess it's easier to believe the new

guy is evil, or a
jerk. I don't know the whole story on the keel being

ripped off the boat,
but I have to say again, thanks Charlie for helping me get

that info. The
keel may have been repaired, but what other structural

damage may have
resulted from the whack that boat took.
Anyway, if I get the boat I'll be in touch. Is there a

ramp at your boat
club/marina? I'm gonna need someone to show me around the

Chessy! )

I read the whole thing. It's typical for a forum group to
rally behind a regular and be suspicious of the new guy,
even without all the facts. When I was telling Lisa your
story, she reacted as soon as I mentioned you had cash and
the guy wanted you to wait. And apparently he did break the
keel, had it towed to FL and repaired by the factory, along
with some other stuff. He also broke the guides while
loading it on the trailer.
Are you still going to FL this w/e.?
Yes, there's a ramp there, it's free to members. Also, my
slip is available right now
The marina is gated so I would have to let you in. There's
also a $5 ramp at Steve'

Isn't the ramp at the BCC sailing center kind of shallow?
It's in a great location to begin a cruise though, and a
looks like a nice place for an afternoons sail.

yes, but not too shallow for the Seaward. I launched my Mac
from there many times. Some big power boats launch there
also. It used to be a free ramp, but I think they charge $5
now.
