Internation Distress Signals
Easy Points for those of you who are POINTLESS.
For 1 point, name one of the many International Distress Signals. I can think of more than a dozen. Bonus: 2 points. Which one do you think would most likely be used in Texas? |
Internation Distress Signals
My favorite is a gun fired at one minute intervals. If you have the gun, why
do you need help? Let's see... gun, red stars or parachute or handheld flare, continuous fog horn, raising and lowering your arms (what if you only have one arm?), square flag with round above or below it, fire, SOS, Mayday, flags NC, Eprib signal I suppose. Not sure about orange smoke.... Inverted US flag would probably work, but wouldn't work for some country flags. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com wrote in message ups.com... A white flag on a French boat = surrender.

No points for you Jon. You didn't read the question.

Incorrect. Smoke is a valid answer--not fire.

Right. It is just like firing on helicopter and claiming it was a
wedding. But you are too late. Someone beat you to the punch. Anyway, you are not pointless, so don't feel too bad. "Capt. JG" wrote Darn. The orange distress flag? I did see an answer with some reference to orange smoke but can't remember who it was. There is also a device intended for signaling aircraft, it's a huge floating banner that is reflective orange with the black square & ball symbols. I have one but IIRC it's not an approved signalling device. Seems pretty likely to get attention though. DSK |
