Let me ask you a question that might point out the fallacy of

Paladin, your last note only serves to demonstrate your ignorance of the
most elementary principles of logic. - Milk doesn't get sour until it's
stored for several days or weeks, and milking a cow has nothing to do
with whether the milk will eventually turn sour.

But you've failed to consider that the only way to taste fresh milk
is to milk a cow. Therefore, by your logic, one cannot comment
on sour milk unless one knows what fresh sweet milk tastes like
and unless one goes to the source one cannot taste fresh sweet
milk.

To each his own. The Mac is the right boat for some and if the shoe fits,
why not wear it? I have my eye on the Precision 28, but in doing my
research, I've learned they are no longer in production. This may be a
temporary situation but no one at Precision can say for sure at this time.
So now I'm trying to hunt down a used 28.
The folks at Precision contacted me and informed me that they make their big
money on the smaller boats, and find it a bit impractical to maintain
tooling for the 28. They suggested I look at the Hunter 27 as a close match.
I liked the swim platform on the Precision though, which to me seems like a
practical sacrifice of cockpit space if the owner (like me) will spend lots
of time in the water as well as on the boat.

Like most questions, the answer is "it depends." Is it bad
to be thought foolish & ignorant by the foolish & ignorant?
Is it like being in a club?

Scout wrote:

Exactly. I try to not criticise the boat, only the
non-factual representation of it. We've had a number of
friends with these boats and they had a lot of fun with it.

.... I have my eye on the Precision 28, but in doing my

Translation- they'd build you a custom one but it would be
real expensive.

So now I'm trying to hunt down a used 28.

That's a refreshing change. They build some good boats too.
I wish they would get into the one-design market, there is a
crying need for a good new dinghy design. I think the
Johnson 18 only opened the door a little bit to the
possibilities and the boat was not marketed very well. The
Vanguard Nomad is a bit too tame IMHO but shows some promise
....and is also not being marketed very well, I predict it
too will be a flop).

.... They suggested I look at the Hunter 27 as a close match.

It's all a compromise. The Hunter can make a servicable
family boat; there are a bunch of other options out there.
Boat shopping should be fun!
