Only 6' long?

"Bob Crantz" wrote in message . .. Is that the cockpit length of the 35s5? 6 feet, maybe 7 feet? You must be on drugs there Crantz. A boat of that size should have a cockpit length of over 12 feet. The seats should be at least 8 feet long. There is NO WAY the cockpit is that small! No way! Lloyd |

Lloyd,
If you scale the cockpit length off of the drawings at: http://www.geocities.com/shearwater9...?1070581634364 You'll see that the cockpit plus coamings is only 6 feet! Use a ruler on the screen and scale it to the boat's overall length. If RB could refute it, he would have by now. Accounting for the coamings, the cockpit is actually less than 6 feet long! Imagine that! One could not possibly lie down and stretch out on the seats in the cockpit of an award winning cruising sailboat of over 35 feet in length! Who gave it that award? The pygmies? Only 6' long?
Produce photographs of a tape measure in the cockpit showing actual
measurements. You can't! Remember, cockpit and helmstation are separate. Swim platform is not cockpit. You cannot destroy me! If your measurements come within the margin of error of my on screen interpolation you are roasted duck! Greasy too! Go ahead! Prepare for thy doom!!!!!!!! |
Only 6' long?
Remember, cockpit and helmstation are separate. You mean aft of the wheel is not the cockpit anymore? That would mean tiller boats have almost no cockpit and boats with wheel's forward have 2 foot cockpits!!!! The cockpit is the entire area for crew and helm. You said 6 feet. But take another look at the pics and remember that a 7 and a half foot bunk is under that cockpit. There is also room to dress and a closet in the aft cabin. You're in trouble! RB 35s5 NY |

No, with a wheel that large you can't consider the helm station part of the cockpit. But take another look at the pics and remember that a 7 and a half foot bunk is under that cockpit. You keep claiming that but you neglect to consider that the head of the bunk is actually alongside the companionway, not under the cockpit. As near as I can tell the cockpit plus the helm is 6 feet, so the crew space is well under 5 feet, maybe 4'4". Nothing wrong with that, of course, but you can't claim its a "large cockpit." There is also room to dress and a closet in the aft cabin. As long as you don't try to stand while you get dressed. Or close the door. You're in trouble! RB 35s5 NY |
