![]() Dave's Cove of Wonder has a cool breeze even on the hottest days. It also free of wakes, so he can sit aboard his budget boat comfortably, read, cook or even build a house of cards. On days when it's stormy, he has no trouble getting to his boat because, while the Cove allows cool breezes, stiffer winds are blocked in an uncanny manner. He never waits to sail. The launches are always there and rarely busy. Once aboard his micro-sea-flea he quickly sails out of the Cove. The Cove never presents any wind that forces him to motor out! Poor me....I am forced to walk down the dock and step right onto my yacht. Back out of the slip and 30 yards beyond the breakwater my sails are up. That's about when Dave is climbing from his launch onto a rocking boat...next the kids and the gear. I hope no one elderly needs to come aboard or he'll need to bring the boat to the service dock...if there's room! How often does Dave's boat get a fresh water washdown? No problem! The Cove is FRESH WATER!!! Dave, keep that joint. You clearly need to believe in it somehow. Maybe if I was your age and stuck with that boat I'd pretend I was a member of a pretentious club too. What else have you got? Yesterday almost every sailboat at our club was out sailing. No one had to write a check, or make sure the batteries were up, or lug ice, or get clear of the "cove", or wait for a launch, or visit a service dock for a washdown, battery charge or whatever! I know, it's just so low rent! Dave, seriously. A nicer boat might change your views. Most sailors that I've brought over to NMYC would never go back to a mooring, even if they had a ancient 27 footer back when they were starting out. RB 35s5 NY |
