Default A new kind of Sailing; Hot Air Ballooning!

That's what I did Today. Really Great.

It takes a bigger crew than Pneuma did. You think sailing into a slip is
something;---try landing a Hot Air Balloon.
The crew chases the balloon with a truck on the ground, trying to find
roads to follow it's flight.

As I was picking the roads on the map I was thinking; "Nutsy could
control Alitude by just talking into the balloon, no need to even touch
the burner!"

I had to beg off early. Age does tell but let me tell you it is real
fun.

I'll probably do it again; if asked. Pilot needed the hours for his
license.

Hey Kate,

No trouble with me overdoing. The crew and Pilot went ballooning at 6:00
AM today; I didn't. They want dedicated people, I'm not up to it.

The crew is having Initiation Ceremonies this morning for two other
Balloonist. Can't go up if your not initiation. I'll just act as a
fill-in ground crew when I can.

The crew operate a 9 passanger Durango SUV towing a trailer to carry the
Balloon (Deflated) and other ground stuff. It takes a lot of people to
put ONE hot air Balloon in the air

They used to balloon around here (up in
Michigan still) band had them land in our pasture once...my horses used to
go bonkers when they let off the steam...farmer down the way lost several
milkings when his herd stampeded...then one tried to land across the street
in the psture there and the neighbot girl was thrown from her horse and
broke her leg...they have now been directed to other places where there is
less livestock (and since we're near the east/west runway pattern to the
Gerald Ford...Randy Disselkoen, a local eprsonality, used to sail his right
down the Grand River using the air currents there....gor hung up in a clump
of trees once...was an exciting rescue....
