Hey, don't be mean!

Shot #2 appears to be Flipper rather than a shark. Scary shot though.

Try this scary clip of a surfer actually getting hit by a big shark....

Shark are as you know are pre-historic. Surfers look just like seals
from below to a shark. Seal is the sharks #1 prey. You can see the
sharks in the video are after the surfboard, and drag it under. In
other words the sharks are not very smart, but excellent hunters. As
long as you do not look like, or smell like prey sharks will normally
leave you alone, and at worst strink once... taste that you are not
fish.. and leave.

When I surf... I use a BIG log of a surfboard... needed by me for
Galveston surf anyway.

The problem with LIS is water clarity and lots of fish chum from the
props, leading to frenzied sharks snapping at anything that moves.
Happens here when people are surf fishing and have the stringer of
caught fish tied to them.

Now go dangle your feet off that swim platform some more.

Take a look at this stuffed flounder. This is the real shark that ate 4
people one summer in your local waters. Seems Great White's often visit
LIS. Probly all the garbage and food in the water.

No wonder you're concerned, they are very aggressive and have the most
excellent rows and rows and rows of razor sharp teeth. I bet that NYC
banker who was attacked and had all of the soft flesh tore of his leg
was hit by a great white. Amazing that he was able to scribble his room
number in the sand before passing out. BTW he screamed for the life
guards and they were to scared to help him out, or they did not like
NYers. Nasty wound, like a chicken leg stripped of meat, the docs had
to cut it off above the knee.
