The Amazing CS27!
This is from the Canadian review....
" I saw that the CS 27 was a good heavy-air boat that could point, and was quite competitive on the race course," says Stark. "After shopping around, I finally bought my boat for $27,000 in 1986." Stark chose his boat because it was epoxy-tarred below the waterline prior to launch to prevent osmotic blistering. This boat's propensity to blister is well known on the second-hand market, and many 27s have had their gel coat stripped before undergoing an epoxy barrier coat treatment. I estimate that nearly 50 per cent of these boats have suffered from the boat "pox" at one time. The CS 27 PHRF rating is 216 sec./mile in white sail, or 198 when flying a spinnaker." 50% have blisters? PHRF of 198??? Holy CRAP!!! Why not buy a boat BB's C&C 27 MK5 which is better built, has no acne problems and rates 168???? Oh, and the C&C looks good compared to the CS27, which is almost as dated looking as Sloco's Express Depress 30! C'mon, Dave. Give us a break. If you can't buy a nicer boat, that's fine. But don't peddle off ancient forgotten crap as if it's a good boat, cuz it aint. RB 35s5 NY |

correct me if I'm stupid, but aren't three of those boats longer than 27'? Yes, and????? They are still in the same ballpark...which makes you both right and stupid. Or perhaps, if you'd like to stock to exact LOA's, you'll have to admit that the 35.5 foot 35s5 is the finest boat of her length!!! Thanks, Scotty!!! But why are you picking on poor Dave? Doesn't the length of a boat have something to do with it's speed? A CS27 is not slower than the boats I listed due to LOA. In fact the CS27 is actually longer LOA and LWL than the faster C&C!!! RB 35s5 NY |
