I'm Sorry!!!
According to the weather links showing gusts to 25 MPH, it appears I
was off around 5 knots. But, there is quite strong funnel effect between Execution Rocks and Hart Island and I do think that gusts did touch on 30 knots a few times. In any case, Joe, Dave and Thomas can send me their addresses so I can mail them a week's worth of Crow to eat!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA! Dave claimed 5 knots!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! RB 35s5 NY |

RB 35s5 NY It's so funny seeing the weekend warrior claim he was sailing in 30 kt winds.. when the facts show the average wind speed was around 13 kts. 13kt's and he's doubled reefed taking pictures like this to fool himself. http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/tsail2weby.jpg I bet he's screaming at the top of his lungs... cursing King Nepture for exposing him to the raging seas. Can Joe read? Can he sail??? Here are the actual conditions published for all to see! 5:56 PM 75.0 °F 63.0 °F 66% 30.01 in 10.0 miles SSW 17.3 mph 23.0 mph N/A Clear Where's the 13 knots, Joe??? Huh? What? We can't hear you!!!! We started sailing in late afternoon when winds started to build. 17.3 - 23 MPH is reefing conditiions for a light fast cruiser. You can't even read the numbers and you have no idea how a sailboat works. AND THIS PROVED IT!!! Keep posting, Joe. You actually leap out to catch each egg I throw right between the eyes!!!! WHOOOOO HOOOOO! STOMP!!! RB 35s5 NY |

kts = mph
Does 23 mph equal 30 kts wind speed? what's the formula to
arrive at these figures? SBV "Swab Rob" wrote 5:56 PM 75.0 °F 63.0 °F 66% 30.01 in 10.0 miles SSW 17.3 mph 23.0 mph N/A Clear Where's the 13 knots, Joe??? Huh? What? We can't hear you!!!! I'm amazed that anybody still bites! People are showing you more respect than you deserve. Regards Donal -- |

Are you still claiming that you are sailing in "Heavy" airs? Nope...but I am putting on airs. We had gusts to 30...and some guy named Dave claimed 5 until I posted local weather reports. It's been a drubbing of these poor saplings ever since. I'm afraid you're late to the game, but I can squeeze you in! RB 35s5 NY |

Are you under the impression that a 30Kt gust would be a challenge for a sailor? Regards Donal -- |
I'm Sorry!!!

Why are people getting excited about 30 Kt gusts? Are you under the impression that a 30Kt gust would be a challenge for a sailor? I can honestly say that when we had the 110% out I was a bit unprepared for the Beneteau's surge...it was really fast and a little shocking, even to my friend at the wheel who sails a J29 and 24. Everyone got excited because some guy named "Dave" then claimed there was only 5 knots of wind. And THEN I posted local weather from two websites showing wind to 27.6 MPH....slightly more than 5 knots. Now....I still know something these people are too foolish to figure out. I'm going to prove how dumb they all are.... Okay...I'll do it NOW! Here's the weather for my area, confirming what I reported: http://weather.newsday.com/auto/news...sta tename=NA BUT, here's the weather for Mystic which comfirms, at least to some degree, that Dave may have found much less wind where he was sailing (if he was). http://weather.newsday.com/auto/news...sta tename=NA The main thing here is this... 1) Dave, Joe and Thom are not expereinced enough to know that weather can be vastly different just a few miles away! 2) They can't even look up a weather chart by area! 3) The idea that I was out sailing in a fresh breeze or more is really upsetting to them!
