My LaBrisa Dink.... perfect weekend warrior
Here is a picture of a weekend warrior sailboat, all that someone like
bubble's really needs, anything more is just fluff. http://image30.webshots.com/30/5/67/...6DdkPsY_ph.jpg Had a fine sail this morning, wind steady 10-15 kts. Skipper and I had a fine view of the cresent moon around 5:30 on Galveston bay, made it back in around 08:00. Planning on heading out again this aternoon, evening, weekend, Monday ect. Hope you enjoyed your sailing today! PS sorry the camera lens is a little fogged, brought it out from the AC. Joe |

Looks like a nice little boat, do you use it as a tender for Red Cloud? Ever row it? You might consider putting on a boom vang, it'll help a lot off the wind at 15 kt. Fresh Breezes- Doug King |

Yeah it is fun, can carry 4 adult and a couple of small rugrats with
ease. I traded a WWI oil painting of a man on a Harley Davidson racing thru a pack of germans on horses and shooting a pistol at them. Joe |

Joe,
If she was mine; the first thing I do would be to cut that Tiller in half and install a tiller extension. It would improve the handling 100%. You wouldn't be turning turtle if you could turn her into the wind easier. Nice Craft, http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage |

Hi Thom,
It has a tiller bar, If you try to turn out of a capsize the downwind side just goes under. You have to think ahead and watch for puffs. Or you need more rail meat, and that slows me down to much. Going to upgrade soon and get a skiff. Joe |

That is a good looking Skiff Doug. Little far to drive and get for me.
I need something else, yester evening I fought all the way up wind on the lake (est 25ktswind), started to turn downwind for a haul ass ride home and did an gybe that was to much for the rudder on the labrisa. The rudder snapped off, the aluminum casting that held the rudder split in half with a loud boom and the rudder blade hit the deep six, did the fastest spiral ever :0( Luckly I had a paddle, took down the main and limped back to the marina with a paddle for a rudder on just the jib. I still have the top half of the tiller and hopefully the local metal shop can make me a new rudder with the parts I have left. Good news is it happened on my last sail of the weekend. Joe |

I was thinking you could sail RED CLOUD up there and get it, hang it from davits ;) I need something else, yester evening I fought all the way up wind on the lake (est 25ktswind), started to turn downwind for a haul ass ride home and did an gybe that was to much for the rudder on the labrisa. I've seen a lot of production boats with these, seems like a bad idea. You can get two sheets of aluminum plate and bolt them with some PVC spacers to make a strong & seamanlike rudder head. Or you can fit a non-kick-up rudder, lighter and stronger yet. Fresh Breezes- Doug King |

I've been wanting to take off the mast and get up north under the bridges and explore the wildlife area anyway it's been 6-7 mo's, good excuse to break out the Mercury for a while. Capt.
