Better and Best :Scotty's World

People like Scotty are always worried about who has what and whether
it's better than what they have. Part of the problem is that they can't
even do the basic research needed to really learn what's best for THEM.
Had Scotty made even a slight effort he'd have easily learned that a
Siedlemann 30 is not a very good boat, in fact it's **** poor. Could he
have had better? Sure. But Scotty wanted a "30 footer" and he wanted a
cabin like the one on other 30 footers that were built better. For that
he was willing to trade away sailing performance and anything remotely
like quality. That's why he's not sailing a Pearson or Cal 28 today.
Scotty and a few other's have remarked that I need to have the best.
What a laugh! I don't own a Swan or Baltic. I don't drive a M5 or A8. I
don't even shoot with a D2X. Could I own some of these things? Sure,
but they don't suit me exactly at this time. What I own is best for ME.
Poor Scotty and Maxipad can't get a grip on that. They are threatened
when I buy a Tribeca, Sedona and Beneteau 35s5 all in the same year.
Proof is in their sad posts. It drives them crazy that I have and enjoy
this stuff because they never had parents to teach them the most
fundamental aspect to life as it applies to the acquisition of material
wealth.

Ponder this....

You NEVER own anything. We are all renters here. Sure, much of my stuff
may be better than yours, but we really don't own a thing. If you can't
grasp that, you'll be forever playing catchup with the media machine of
"Bye Buy!" like poor Maxi and his 3 series...a car for folks who can't
buy a real BMW flagship. Then again, sometimes a 3 series and a
Siedlemann seem like the right move.

I own my house.

No you don't. You only live there.
As I said, you probably can't grasp the reality of it.

No, but I've been aboard one in it's slip.

Citroen: the car that doesn't shave under it's armpits.

Not familiar with that one.

Long ago I had a room-mate who owned a CV-4 (the one that
looked like an Impressionist Volkswagen). It was actually a
good car too; pretty reliable as long as one worked with
it's quirks instead of against them, and got good mileage. I
liked riding in it, the only time I drove it was in city
traffic.

After owning a Simca, the Citroen was great!

Unfamiliar with that model, but the CV series cars I've driven were awful.
Noisy, rough-riding, and the handling could only be described as
frightening. Body lean was extreme, and it came all at once. When thrown
into a curve, the body would rock abruptly into a substantial lean which
caused the tires to break adhesion momentarily. The effect was . . . um,
stimulating.

The French should have stuck with wine.

You are a glutton for punishment if you keep buying French cars.

Well, the optimist keeps on hoping they'll learn something
about engineering from their next door neighbors ;)

Well ahead of its time, steering headlamps, active hydraulic suspension,
great cars for bootleggers, they always rode at the same height.

Cheers

That must have been before you entered the lucrative world of investigative

Even their next-door neighbors are falling behind on the technology curve.
